Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) was created in 1998 after the merger of Scottish Hydro Electric with Southern Energy. It is one of the big 6 that does not have a parent company located out with the UK and is the second largest supplier to the domestic market.
SSE is a fully integrated energy business owning generation plant through the UK, operating electrical distribution networks in the north and south of the country, gas networks in Scotland and offering a wide number of energy supply products into the business market.
